Colour has a voice

The show is on at the Crafty Baker in Titirangi village until 28th May

Still buzzing from the opening night of my show at the Crafty Baker. I was nervous! I had invited the whole neighbourhood before I realised they were all coming to look at MY art. Somehow the thrill of trying to gather a crowd had made me forget what I was gathering a crowd for. And then, about a week out, it hit me. The existential dread. What if no one comes. What if everyone comes and they hate the art. Let the catastrophising begin.

Except, it was a wonderful night. Much loved old friends, lots of new lovely faces, some random people who were walking past. It was a whole vibe! We demolished all the food and most of the wine (which, again, I worried would all be left over in the inevitable event that no one showed up), and a whole lot of friends stayed right till the end to help me clean up - and drive my car safely home.

I am so grateful for each and every one of the people who came and the messages of support I received. I kept thinking “This is not a real solo show because it’s not in a real gallery”. But it really was, and I’m happy to have made it happen. If you are in the area and you haven’t already, definitely pop in! The coffee and food are delicious. And there’s so much to see in the village, make a day of it. See you soon x

PS - learning for next time: we need a photographer!
