Term 4: Wonderful, Weird, Whacky Creatures
A 9-week project
This term, tamariki will dream up, build, and bring to life their very own wonderful creature: something that has never existed before and couldn't exist anywhere else.
Over nine weeks, we'll move through the full arc of making: from imagination to planning, construction to painting, and finally to a finished piece worthy of exhibition. Every session begins with a 10-minute warm-up exercise in their visual diary - a space to experiment, play, and develop their own creative voice across the term.
The main project is a papier-mâché sculpture, built from scratch and rendered in as many ways as we can throw at it. By the end of the term, each child will have a unique, fully realised 3D creature, and the skills and confidence to show it off.
What your child will take home:
A one-of-a-kind papier-mâché sculpture. A visual diary full of warm-ups, sketches, and experiments. And a term's worth of creative confidence.
All materials provided. Just bring an old shirt and your afternoon tea.
