2024 Collection
My practice explores bold colour, space and composition, and a mark making which is spontaneous and immediate. The result is playful, vibrant and dynamic.
I believe art is one of the ways in which we can express our inner world. Each mark representing a thought, feeling, memory or dream, which layer over each other and collectively contribute to our own uniquely perceived reality.
Finding a state of flow through music allows me to let go and create marks boldly and courageously, without premeditation, responding to the work as I go. It is necessary to surrender to the possibility of failure, forging ahead regardless, guided by exploration, intuition, colour and form.
The final body of work for this year has evolved to include the collating of earlier works through collage, allowing me to achieve starker contrasts between background and foreground and an enhanced sense of space. This has allowed me to express the theme of constructed reality with maximum impact.
Ultimately, I would like my work to elicit a sense of visual joy from the viewer.
