What does it all mean?

What does it all mean?

I've been working on better articulating why I do what I do, and here is where i am at so far...

Art has the ability to express the intangible—our emotions, memories, and inner thoughts—beyond what words can capture. My work explores this unseen place, focusing not on the content of thoughts but on how they exist, move, and interact within our mind. Instead of depicting symbols of emotions, I visualise the abstract nature of internal experiences. Each mark and layer represents fragments of thought and feeling, forming a journal or map-like snapshot that mirrors the non-linear, overlapping nature of inner dialogues.

My process is both an escape and an immersion; it offers relief from the demands of daily life, particularly the labour-intensive reality of parenting small children, while also being influenced by the vibrancy of that world. The bright, playful colours and fluid forms echo the visual language of picture books and childhood joy, yet they also represent something more to me—the innate pleasure of making.

I am drawn to hues and gestures that mirror my emotional response to painting, a process that engages my mind in a state of flow and positivity. In this sense, the work is both deeply personal and open-ended; while it originates from my own experience, I hope it resonates with others, inviting them to find their own response within the layers of movement, colour, and feeling.
